Mayan breakaway civilization11/24/2023 ![]() ![]() They were thought to serve as mediators between the gods and people on earth, and performed the elaborate religious ceremonies and rituals so important to the Maya culture. At the top of Maya society were the kings, or “kuhul ajaw” (holy lords), who claimed to be related to gods and followed a hereditary succession. ![]() The Maya were deeply religious, and worshiped various gods related to nature, including the gods of the sun, the moon, rain and corn. Though the Maya practiced a primitive type of “slash-and-burn” agriculture, they also displayed evidence of more advanced farming methods, such as irrigation and terracing. Maya cities were surrounded and supported by a large population of farmers. At its peak, the Maya population may have reached 2,000,000 or as many as 10,000,000.Įxcavations of Maya sites have unearthed plazas, palaces, temples and pyramids, as well as courts for playing the famous Maya ball game ulama, all ritually and politically significant to Maya culture. ![]() Classic Maya civilization grew to some 40 cities, including Tikal, Uaxactún, Copán, Bonampak, Dos Pilas, Calakmul, Palenque and Río Bec each city held a population of between 5,000 and 50,000 people. 250, was the golden age of the Maya Empire. The Classic Period, which began around A.D. Its size dwarfed the Classic Maya capital of Tikal, and its existence proves that the Maya flourished centuries before the Classic Period. The Late Preclassic city of Mirador, in the northern Peten, was one of the greatest cities ever built in the pre-Columbian Americas. ![]() In addition to agriculture, the Preclassic Maya also displayed more advanced cultural traits like pyramid-building, city construction and the inscribing of stone monuments. Like other Mesamerican peoples, such as the Zapotec, Totonac, Teotihuacán and Aztec, the Maya derived a number of religious and cultural traits-as well as their number system and their famous calendar-from the Olmec. The Middle Preclassic Period also saw the rise of the first major Mesoamerican civilization, the Olmecs. During the Middle Preclassic Period, which lasted until about 300 B.C., Maya farmers began to expand their presence both in the highland and lowland regions. The earliest Maya were agricultural, growing crops such as corn (maize), beans, squash and cassava (manioc). The earliest Maya settlements date to around 1800 B.C., or the beginning of what is called the Preclassic or Formative Period. 250 to 900), and built the great stone cities and monuments that have fascinated explorers and scholars of the region to this day. Most famously, the Maya of the southern lowland region reached their peak during the Classic Period of Maya civilization (A.D. Within that expanse, the Maya lived in three separate sub-areas with distinct environmental and cultural differences: the northern Maya lowlands on the Yucatan Peninsula the southern lowlands in the Peten district of northern Guatemala and adjacent portions of Mexico, Belize and western Honduras and the southern Maya highlands, in the mountainous region of southern Guatemala. In modern-day Mexico and Central America, around 5 million people speak some 70 Maya languages most of them are bilingual in Spanish. This concentration showed that the Maya remained relatively secure from invasion by other Mesoamerican peoples.ĭid you know? Among the earliest Maya a single language existed, but by the Preclassic Period a great linguistic diversity developed among the various Maya peoples. Unlike other scattered Indigenous populations of Mesoamerica, the Maya were centered in one geographical block covering all of the Yucatan Peninsula and modern-day Guatemala Belize and parts of the Mexican states of Tabasco and Chiapas and the western part of Honduras and El Salvador. ![]()

The lower the skill ceiling of the game, the less it matters, and it barely matters for this game. You don't have to go out of your way to argue in bad faith for the viability of your preference. There's no shame in any of these statements, preferences are completely normal and in the case of this game every veteran shares your preference for controllers. This isn't even a matter of preference, mechanically the keyboard is better for sudden switches in movement, especially in opposite directions like for ADAD. Jiggle peaking is also EASIER on keyboard rather than harder, because you're tapping binary left right inputs rather than a "granular" analog stick which not only has to return to neutral position between each input direction but then further travel twice the distance the second direction. I jiggle peaked better than anyone I saw in the network test. Have you spilled soda or something sugary on your keyboard recently? Are the keys sticking or something? How can you possibly have issue with tapping ADAD. On controller it's much easier to step out slightly to fire, then dart back in. If you're holding a corner, pressing ADAD is finicky and can send you out too far, exposing your suit, so you have to spam it to get the perfect peek shot. Wish controller movement+mouse aim was possible, but the game confuses inputs when it's attempted. Mouse is obviously better for fine aiming/distance shots. On controller you can smoothly step out just enough to fire, then dart back in, with one single motion. ![]() Meanwhile, using KB might send you well out of range because pressing a direction is all or nothing. When selecting a direction to melee attack, you can tilt the stick slightly (so you don't move). ![]() It's simply much easier to be in the perfect position/angle with controller. For example, you're doing a melee combo, and hitting S or S+D will send you way out of range or off angle (camera can't turn enough to compensate), while on controller you have precise, granular inputs. You can't boost in the proper angles with keyboard, because a) turn rate is limited (so Gunz is incomparable), and b) keyboards can only go in 8 directions. And this is from someone who used to play CS professionally. Sounds nice, but there are many practical reasons why that might not be true here. No shame in having a preference, but advocating your preference as being better(without a single actual reason to back it up) is just plain silly. ![]() Think a lot of people need to admit to themselves that they're not good at using a keyboard and just prefer controllers. Controllers on the other hand have no objective advantage. ![]() The mechanical skill ceiling in this game is pretty low, so KBM and controller will be about equal, with KBM having a slight advantage in aiming precision and the advantage of being able to directly switch to whatever weapon you want without having to bring up the menu for it. If you think doing boost cancelling, combos, or "backslash" attacks are difficult on keyboard then look up videos of people playing fighting games or Gunz on keyboard, your mind will be blown. If you prefer controller(as nearly every vet would due to them using it for so long) then use controller, but if you have no preference then KBM is far better for nearly every game on the planet including this one. Not sure if the people advocating for controller are trolling or have cerebral palsy. ![]() Bike riding france dordogne river sarlot11/24/2023 ![]() ![]() Tip: Don't forget sun cream on your legs (and feet if you're wearing sandals).
